It's easy to block out everything that's wrong with toxic fragrances when we're just making a Target run because we're outta soap.

It's even easier not to think about how many fossil fuels were burned to create packaging for the products we use when all we want is a new tube of toothpaste.

But taking an inventory of the household goods we use (just a few at a time so they're easy to digest) and reconsidering why we're loyal to certain brands, is worth our time, effort and reflection.

Toxins are in almost everything, unfortunately. Wasteful packaging abounds. The next great invention, sadly, isn't always good for us.

But wise, thoughtful shoppers, armed with knowledge & cunning to make smart choices before they start perusing the aisles, can win the battle against  toxins & waste.
What's more, we can become empowered to lead healthier lives, protecting our children and pets along the way.

So, today, I bring you 4 Easy Fixes, Part 2: An At-a-Glance Chart that reviews four common household products we all use, & the clean, green alternatives everyone should switch to!

Part 2 of the 4 Easy Fixes series takes a closer look at
  • how we make coffee,
  • how we smell,
  • what we use to we clean, and
  • what we walk on.*

You'll find a brief explainer on why the products you might be using don't meet Reductionist standards, and then you'll see greener, cleaner alternatives you could switch to instead. As always, for the eco-warriors among us, I've included a super hard-core option for you as well.

(*I realize it won't be as easy to make switches to some of these products than it will be for others. But, as G.I. Joe always says, "Knowing is half the battle!" The next time you're thinking about getting new carpet, for example, I hope this gives you a fuller perspective on everything new carpet entails so you can make a healthy choice.)

Check it out! Download it! Share it with your friends! And the next time you're walking down the aisle of your favorite store, don't forget what you learned here at The Reductionist:)
